Extending from the Drakensburg to the Bushveld, the Highveld is a seemingly endless grassland. Covering nearly 2000000 ha of unspoiled terrain, the highveld encompasses some of the country's most awesome conservation and wildlife sanctuaries including Pilansberg, Marakele and the world famous Kruger National Park.
Day One - Pilansberg National Park
Depart Johannesburg and travel north east to the Pilansberg National Park. Rising 600m above the surrounding plains, Pilansburg is the remains of a volcano. The volcanic crater rings are a natural boundary of the Pilansberg National Park - renown for its scenery, abundant game, diversity of bird life and geology. More than 45 large mammals and some 50 smaller species are known to occur in the park. Optional night drive.
Day Two - Pilansberg National Park
Spent in and around Pilansberg, the vegetation ranges from open grasslands to densely wooded valleys. It is sanctuary to the world's third largest White Rhino population with a healthy Black Rhino population as well. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, brown hyena, jackal and caracal. An auto trail has been developed which offers excellent game viewing opportunities.
Day Three - Madikwe
We drive further north to a fairly new park called Madikwe, which covers 75000 ha of bushveld, plains, cliffs and isolated islands and mountains. Madikwe boasts South Africa's second largest elephant population as well as the other Big 5. Afternoon game viewing drive.
Day Four - Warmbaths
Early morning game drive returning to camp for midmorning brunch. Depart Madikwe and travel east through the mountains to arrive at the town of Warmbaths, which owes its name to the existence to the thermal springs which surface here. The recreation activities on offer include outdoor swimming pools, super tube and wave pool. Game viewing drives are conducted in the adjoining Warmbaths Nature Reserve. Dinner at Restaurant (own expense), stay overnight.
Day Five - Mpumulanga
Depart Warmbaths and travel east into Mpumulanga. Descend the Long Tom Pass. The 46km long pass which winds across the Drakensberg between Lydenberg and Sabie, is steeped in history and is one of South Africa's most scenic passes. Arrive at Sabie. Afternoon drive to visit Pilgrim's Rest and swim at the Mac Mac Pools.

Day Six - Sabie
We visit the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. This reserve stretches northwards for 57km along the escarpment. Visit God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and The Three Rondavels. Descend the escarpment to the lowveld to enter the famous Kruger National Park (Central). This part of the park is renowned for breeding herds of elephant, plains animals, such as blue wildebeest and Burchell's Zebra as well as predators.
Day Seven - Sabie River
Arise early to begin a game drive taking us south towards the Sabie RIver, where wildlife is prolific and hippos and crocodiles abound in the river. Visit view points and waterholes along the way. The highly nutritional vegetation in this area attracts the Parks largest concentration of game and predators. Optional night drive.
Day Eight - Pretoriuskop
Once again, we begin the morning with a game drive, taking us through the southern part of the Park where the densely wooded area requires patient game viewing. Bird life abound. We arrive at the lovely rest camp - Pretoriuskop (the first to be opened in the park.
Day Nine - Pretoriuskop
The last day is spent in and around the southern part of the park and commonly seen animals include giraffe, kudu, waterbuck and impala.
The mountainous terrain provides the only suitable habitat in the park for the mountain Reedbuck and is favoured by the Klipspringer. Return to camp to relax during the heat of the day at the natural swimming pool. Evening game drive, returning after dark.
Day Ten - Johannesburg
After a final morning game drive, we break camp and begin the journey back to Johannesburg, passing through towns like Nelspuit, Machadodorp to arrive in Johannesburg late afternoon to complete your safari.
