One of the jewels of the Garden Route is the Knysna Lagoon which is fed daily by nutrient enriched waters from the INdian Ocean and the Outeniqua Mountains. It's a remarkable eco system, a mosaic of sandy shores, reef beds, mud flats and salt marshes. A pleasure cruise on the Lagoon.
Day Four - Knysna Heads
Standing guard over the narrow entrance of the Lagoon are the famous, spectacular Knysna Heads of which the best views can be enjoyed from the end of the road skirting the eastern edge.
Arguably the most beautiful part of the Garden Route, between Knysna and Keurbooms Lagoon. We take the Kom-Se-Pad scenic drive through the magical world of ferns, monkey ropes, yellowwoods, ironwoods and stinkwoods. Over 155 tree species are found here, the home of the Knysna Elephant. Return to N2 and continue down the Groot River Pass to Natures Valley and the Storms River Mouth. We spend the night there where you can enjoy a dinner in one of the restaurants (at own expense).

The Storms River has a magnificent gorge. Several short walks have been laid out in the vicinity of the Storms River Rest Camp. One of the most popular is the "Mouth Trail" with the views of the deep gorge, another recommended ramble which follows the Otter Trail to the Waterfall with its magnificent pool - an ideal place to swim.
